AESTCCU Proudly Sponsors National Sickle Cell Awareness and Screening Event at UEW

In June 2025, AESTCCU (Awutu Effutu Senya Teachers Cooperative Credit Union), proudly sponsored a significant health initiative at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).

Held on June 19, 2025, at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, the event was organized by the Focus on Sickle Cell Foundation (FoSCel) in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health, to mark World Sickle Cell Day. The purpose was to raise awareness about sickle cell disease (SCD), promote early detection, and support individuals living with the condition.

The event featured free sickle cell screening, educational sessions on symptoms, prevention, treatment, and dietary management, as well as onsite registration and renewal services provided by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). These activities aimed to reach and benefit teachers, healthcare workers, government employees, and community members alike.

Our support for this event reflects AESTCCU’s dedication to promoting the health and well-being of our members and the broader community. We believe that a healthy community is a strong community, and we are committed to supporting initiatives that foster health, education, and social development.

Together, as a union of hardworking teachers, nurses, government workers, and community members, we can make a positive impact—today and into the future.
